Meh, release is a year away. After seeing the crap last several were I will wait year and a half to watch free.

I guess it's high time I actually watched the three original movies so I can finally participate.

I feel Lord of the Rings is going the same route as the Star Wars films.

First 3 movies produced are about the 2nd half of the story, and are pretty epic films using lots of practical effects.
Second 3 movies are all prequels to the original trilogy, are mostly CGI, and a story full of characters nobody cares about.
In 20 years, there will be a new movie made about events that happen after The Return of the King.

Excited!! And the best part, we get a Star Wars film every year for about 5 years... Next year is Ep VII, then a standalone film, then VIII, then another standalone film, then IX, then another non-trilogy film. Disney is going to make serious cheddar off this franchise. Probably the best purchase they've made since Pixar (both times )

Lots of folks say that, after Episodes I-III, the franchise can only improve. I'm not in that camp.

I'm a huge SW fan who's read just about every SW novel out there (more than 150) and am a member of the 501st Legion. I know my SW universe & I love it. I've had the pleasure of meeting and dining on multiple occasions with the like of Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Jeremy Bulloch and Peter Mayhew (not a fan of Anthony Daniels, but the others are great folks).

So Disney buys the franchise and decides that they don't want to be hamstrung by what is "canon" and what isn't - as has been defined in the carefully controlled "Extended Universe" (EU) since the 80's. They want to go their own route. For those who don't know, the EU was developed to ensure no paradox's were created in the storyline with all of the various novels, comics, cartoons and even movies. It was also created to ensure the stories maintained a certain level of Star Wars quality (yeah, yeah..."Ep I-III") It's what those of us fans who were really into SW relied on to ensure the story stayed true. Now, you've got Disney saying "to hell with all of that; we're changing it all". That doesn't sit well with me and many like me. The EU offered an unlimited amount of material to work with for movies and merchandising without alienating the dedicated fans. Did Lucas let us down during his rein with the likes of the Ewoks and JarJar/Gungans? Yes, but he was trying to keep the PG rating (Episode III was darker & got a PG-13). It didn't like the silliness, but I understood the reason for it.

Sorry folks, I wasn't impressed with the teaser/trailer and for the first time since 1977, I'm not excitedly looking forward to the movie. I believe that this movie will be Disney's 1 chance to win over the hearts of SW fans. If they blow it on this movie they'll lose the SW following.

Oh, and what's with the retro looking helmet on the X-wing pilot? He looks like he belongs in an earlier genre of SW, not post-Ep VI. Thanks J.J. Abrams, you're destroying what I've enjoyed since my childhood.
