Thanks for the advice, everyone. I ended up getting a new 34 Gen 3. It came with 2 17 round mags that were permanently blocked at 15 by the LGS. I took it to the range to sight it in at 25 feet. 1st shot was low and left of center by about 3 inches. Second shot touched the first shot, so did the 3rd. I made a couple of adjustments and proceeded to make a ragged hole in the center of the bullseye. I'll move the target out to 25 yards next time out.

I'm really happy with it so far. The longer sight radius was just what I was looking for. I liked the feel of the Gen 3 trigger and ergonomics better than the Gen 4. Also handled a 17, 19, 22, and 41. The 34 was the sweet spot for me. I'm a Glock fan now.

Oh interesting. I guess I wasn't aware anyone was doing this. In fact, for many of the reasons above, I've been shooting a (Gen4) 19 for the same reason but would love a Gen4 17. Been thinking about a 34 myself, but for competition only.
    Obviously not a golfer.

Congrats on your purchase! My 34 is on the list of guns I've sold and wish I hadn't.
