    I must be losing my mind. I swear I posted on the first page...

    Oh well. Boring, but .308 or 7-08... damn near the same thing. I voted .308 for hitting meat factor, and burning faster powders / more efficient with a short barrel factor.

    ...and I'll second the Varget comment.

    Amen. It's great set up in .308. I have an old 22-250 that will someday soon be turned into a gun just like you are thinking of building.

    The 155's and Varget are a great set up. The 178 AMAX is a good bullet as well.
