Default Thoughts on Uberti lever action (.22 WMR)

I am in the mood to pick up a level action rifle. I have been looking at the Henry rifle, but the Uberti Silverboy seemed interesting. Anybody have any experience?

    Goals:
Small caliber rifle that I can use/teach with my son
    Fun plinker
Caliber that I could use for Fall Turkey and the rifle has to be reasonable accurate
I plan on putting a scope on it

I have been watching gun auctions and the Winchester 9422 have been just going for too much and I have a hard time buying a firearm without seeing first.

    Any thought?

the Henry Golden Boys are great, if you don't mind the loading method. I like that they are US made. I prefer the golden boys over the standard, due the standard just being painted receivers.

Take a look at the Ruger 96, also.

potmetal levers take a pass on them. For what a 96 is going for you could buy 2 uberti's or henry's.

The bad thing about the Henry GB is that the receiver is not drilled and tapped. I am looking to put a scope on it.

I have no experience with the Uberti but the Henry's are nice guns. You did not mention the Marlin model 39. These are great lever guns and go for quite a bit less than the 9422.

I didn't think that the Marlin 39 was available in .22 WMR. Are they in older models?

Marlin 39A is the finest and about the most accurate .22 rimfire lever gun out there. Imho.

If you want .22mag in a levergun, youre going to be limited to the one you ask about, the ruger 96, the winny 94/22 and, if you like hunting for unicorns and spending 4 figures for a rimfire, a marlin 1894M. There are a couple others, but those are the more quality and accurate .22 mags out there. I have a 96 and its slick.

Well, I ended up buying the Uberti. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I picked a Nikon Buckmaster BDC (for cheap), a weaver rail, and some leaper scope rings. The scope rings are a bit high, but I need some clearance around the hammer. The action seems smooth and I like the trigger.
