    Default Tent alternative

Kind of a cool idea-wonder what the cost would be though ?

Interesting but in a heavy wind may prove problematic. Waterproof?

Looks like that one is still in "concept" phase. For anyone that wants a sturdy tube-tent, Hilleberg is very likely the best there is in that realm.

If the person shown in the graphic is to scale, that looks pretty much useless anywhere other than Sand Dunes NP or where loud and obnoxious people camp.

This is a really cool product I've been going back and forth on as well...I'm sure some of you have seen it.

Nice idea, for someone who sleeps soundly and doesn't move around. I'm not one who enjoys being that high off the ground. Hell when driving over bridges, i close my eyes.

This unit is a lot of coin, but versatile.

Personally, I thought that the alternative to a tent was a hotel, but what do I know?

My Grandmother's idea of roughing it was a Holiday Inn.

Sometimes the biggest hassle with camping is setting up the tent--figuring out which rod goes in what sleeve and all that fuss. If you have a tent with multiple rooms, you may as well get out the Advil for your inevitable headache. The Camping Doughnut design is out to put an end to the stress of setting up a tent.
If setting up a tent creates that much stress for you, go to a hotel. Stay the hell away from the outdoors because you're too damned stupid to be out on your own. The picture showing the campfire has the fire WAY too close to the fabric structure. The kind of pop-up Kazoo posted is the way to go if you can't deal with tent poles.
