    Default Ruger American Rimfire

I just picked up a Ruger American Rimfire for teaching my girls about precision/bolt guns/scoped, etc. It seems like a slick gun. Any feedback from anyone about it as far as accuracy? dependabiltiy? It takes the 10/22 mags so I already have those with my 10/22. That is what sold me on it.I used to have a Ruger American in .308. It was very accurate out to 400yds for three shots. After that the shots would spread out. Good for hunting but not for plinking without letting the barrel cool.

Have one in 22wmr. Outside of some issues with Failure to eject every so often. I, as others who have shot it are impressed. @ 50 yd sight in i was getting great (for me groups) some on top of or touching the last round fired. They stayed consistent throughout the range sessions. When i get off my ass i will probably call ruger regarding the stuck spent issue. Reason i have not called is not wanting to have gun unavailable for X days or weeks.

If i didn't have an older 77/22 i'd buy the RAR in 22lr. Can't beat a threaded bbl, bolt action with detachable mag capability for the price point. Another reason i went ruger is ALL the mags i have in 22WMR.

There's a guy over on RFC selling these mag adapters to allow you to shoot 22 short in the factory 10/22 magazine. I have his info pm me if you'd like it.

I thought it was a different magazine, although the same style/type as the 10/22, they were not interchangeable. (american is slim vs the 10/22)

That doesn't mean "stairs are bad" nor does it make someone who pushes someone down the stairs any less of an asshole.

Same mag. The RAR has a fixed bbl vs the easy to remove 10/22

hmm. Looking at the ruger website, I am wrong. But know I've seen something somewhere that said there was a difference and they were not interchangeable. ugh.

I know the 77/22 uses a different mag, but from what I can remember the RAR is supposed to use the 10/22 mag.

Again, same mag works. The 77/22 LR mag looks different (slightly) cosmetic wise. They work across the 22lr platform, i used a BX mag for ease of ID.

What i did find is the 22mag RAR and 77/22WMR swap 10 rd mags no problem. However the shooters ridge 25 rd mags need some of the sides sanded down to fit. The RAR 22WMR has a tighter mag well.

I have one of the Ruger American predators in .22lr. Slightly heavier barrel that is threaded, no iron sights and OD green composite stock. I've been shooting 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards with the right ammo. It's a great rifle.
