I think I disagree. We just had a thread about doing what's right, and many people took that stance. I know I don't always back down from confrontation. I often will, but almost never because I'm carrying; especially in someplace like a supermarket. HOWEVER, I would say that while I might not shy away from confrontation, I would certainly do everything I could to avoid shooting someone.
Edit to add, perhaps I should reconsider bring less confrontational.

I wasn't there, but what if the guy was drawing his weapon in self defense? What if there weren't any credible witnesses? What if there was a baby in a stroller behind the hand that was shot? Should he have used his vehicle to eliminate the threat instead of his gun???
