Default interest in setting up a spot in pawnee?

i have been kicking around the idea of setting up a spot at pawnee where some of us know we can go and shoot. possibly using some large rocks to mark ranges in 100 yard increments out to 1000. maybe even setting up a decent spot to camp. anyone know of some good places to start or have any interest in setting it up sometime this spring/summer with me?

if anyone else has driven all over the place out there trying to differentiate public vs private you'll know how annoying it is to not have a set place to go. i know they have a range out there now but i want to be able to shoot long distances at steel and would really like a place to camp so it can be a multi day outing.

Some suggestions from the last time we did this:

    1. Do not use your vehicle to place the targets, and park no more than 10 feet from the road. Or make a $240 contribution to Fish & Wildlife for 'off-roading'.
    2. When it comes time to retrieve your targets, have a working pair of cell phones or walkie-talkies. This is so that the up-range guy can stop the guys who didn't look over the low hill 'berm' they choose when setting up perpendicular to your targets from launching rounds at your friends going down-range to retrieve the targets.
Math is tough. Let's go shopping!

    You left out

#3. When retrieving targets and you need to have those waiting by the truck infom other shooters what they're doing. Make sure that person or persons have the keys and not in someone's pocket ,out 1K yards.

yeah my hope is if we can all find a good, safe spot we can mark the ranges with fairly large rocks with a bit of paint or something on them, then when we go back simply set up targets at desired range. i swear when i go to pawnee half the time i spend driving around trying to figure out whats public and whats safe. if anyone decides to do it just let me know and we will get it going. I've got some steel targets and a good range finder to get us started.

I would be interested in helping out. I make a weekend trip ever other month or so depending on weather. There are a few spots I frequent, but as a general rule the spots seem to get better the further you are willing to drive.

Edit: redacted my question, as its answered in the op.

I have a 25' water cooled CNC plasma table and get steel at commercial cost. If some guys want to pitch for material, I can make whatever targets we want. I'm pretty sure I have enough scrap angle iron for target stands too.

I'm definitely interested and am willing to throw down on some targets.

Loose lips sinks ships! Before you know it there will be ex-nfl player bums up there using the spot as a public restroom!
