Taurus PT-111 anybody own one?

Ill be visiting my sister and BIL next week and sure as rain, he'll start gripping about how I sold my sister a POS yrs ago. Keep in mind this was about 13 yrs. ago, CCW gun choices were a tenth of what we now have and she's small framed, wanting something cheap and small. I got her a keel tec 32, for $140 yea I know, better than nails.

I found the the below and knowing how cheap they are, I'm going to put them on one if anyone has any positive feedback.

I see they're on sale at Palmetto armory for $199.

Hard to beat for the price. I have had nothing but success with Taurus firearms. I say get it.

I have one I bought a couple years ago used. I think I took it out twice and it ran fine. I carry my G19 just cause I'm scared to carry a $200 used pistol that I have not shot at least 250 rds thru. But feels real nice in my hand and shot pretty darn good. I like the double action too! If you have a misfire just keep pulling the trigger.

The first pistol I ever bought was a Taurus Milenium pro in .40, I never had any issues with it, but it easily had the worst trigger I've ever used. Maybe Taurus has fixed the issue, but if shoot ability is a concern, I'd take it into consideration.

I had a PT-111 Millennium Pro, once. Trigger was a bit crappy and I didn't like the Heine 8-ball sights. The light weight makes it prone to misfeed from unintentional limp-wristing unless you maintain a FIRM stance.

Despite it being a decent looking, nicely finished firearm, I ended up selling it for a small loss a few weeks after I bought it, and I wouldn't buy another one.

If you want to give her my two cents, based on a previous experience with a Taurus firearm, there is no way in hell I would bet my life on anything Taurus builds.

Also, just food for thought.... but isn't your sister's life worth more than $200?

If I were on a shoestring budget I would look hard at a used Ruger P series or maybe one of the S&W low end striker fired guns. Either of them pops up for under $300 every now and then and I would at least trust them to go bang when I pulled the trigger.

Trust me, the budget isn't an issue. They'll only spend what they choose. I'm just supplying them with an option that possibly they'll entertain. Yes ago, both their and my budgets were strapped. These days, she could buy anything out there.

Youd think someone who had a room mate get a finger bit off in an abduction attempt would take personal security more seriously, but I digress.

Yeah, and lately there have been quality polymer pistols available for just north of $300 (M&P40c I just traded), no reason to buy Taurus.
