    Default Refer on the fritz

So the wife calls me a couple hours ago and says the refrigerator/freezer is not running and is defrosting. I came home and helped her transfer freezer stuff to our chest freezer and pack refer stuff into coolers.

Went through options on control panel, read back through trouble shooting section of manual and did a thorough cleaning all accessible areas under and back. No change.

    Any appliance gurus?

Repair tech has been called but may be couple days before he is available in our part of the sticks(although they do give refer issues priority and we are hoping he can come out tomorrow).

i HATE!!! how everything now is all fancy, has LEDs, control boards, etc on them. Dryers, Washers, Fridges, etc. You cannot find a plane jane appliance anymore, and those are the ones that last longer.

Sorry just a rant, i don't know anything that fixes appliances. But I have a guy that can get parts if you figure out whats wrong.

Youd be surprised the amount of appliances that are plane jane on the inside but they dress up with contols with flashy lights and touch screens. It's every middle of the road appliance right now.

    GE Profile model PGSS5PJX

Fan is running, does not sound like compressor running though.

I would vacuum the condenser first if you haven't done so and them go from there also after that unplug it for a few minutes and plug back in. Not an expert but small things that help.

Can you get to the compressor. Access panel on back. Is the fan running. Are the relays scalding hot?

To elaborate the fans are in the back and in the freezer. If one or the other are not running it is significant. Youre looking for start relays and overheat relays. You can google the replacement parts if you want a visual of what to look for but bassically follow the power.

If its not a relay its likely the board. That model has a few variations so make sure you source the correct board

Fan is running, nothing I can reach is hot. I was able to vacuum/blow off coils better from back access panel.

Do you have a multi meter or Wiggy or ringer? Need to see if there is power to compressor

If no power to compressor Check the main board. Clicking or burnt spots. Are obvious signs

If power to compressor. Unplug. pull the cover off the compressors side where the wires go in. Remove relay. See if it rattles
