    when people go to tanner to sell stuff, are you looking to sell to vendors or hoping to get stopped by people at the show?

    Also, whats the proper protocol if you see someone showing something to a vendor? i know you shouldnt interrupt them, but if you tell him you might be interested, he probably wont take the wholesale price the dealer is offering.

    We went around to the vendors who had signs indicating they bought firearms as well as asking opinions of the vendors who were selling the type of firearm he was looking to sell. It was a unique Austrian made bolt action.

    As for your interest, it would be my opinion to wait until the two parties concluded their discussion and then contact the seller to indicate your interest. Just my opinion though.

    Last year I had Les Baer and Springfield 1911s with me to sell. This is exactly how the Baer sold-a vendor looked it over, passed and a gentleman standing off to the side approached me as I walked away. My asking price had some wiggle room and we made a deal. Another vendor ended up taking the Springfield at a price I could live with. I always hang a sign around my neck with details if I’m trying to sell at the show.

    I hope to get stopped by people. Every time a vendor asks what I'm selling, and for how much, they say "I can't make a profit off that."

    "B*tch, I don't care if you can make a profit or not, I'm looking out for myself!" I think but don't say.

    Hell yeah. I stopped showing anything I bring to vendors. I'll be there with something at a fair used market price (lets say a glock 19 at $400).
    "Can I see that?"

    "Sure, if you'll pay $400 for it, I'm selling it at a fair price, but not enough for you to make much profit on it"

    "yeah that's fine, let me check it out. Hmmm, my gun price bible (because I'm still using a several year old paperback in 2018) says I can't do that. would you take $200 for it?"

    Every. Fucking. Time. I try not to be rude as I'd like to maintain the relationships, but man so many of these guys have the same stuff on the table for years and I totally understand why. In the end I still spend my $10 so I'm the sucker, but every now and then I find something really cool.

    what brought up my question was a couple shows back, i saw a guy with a bunch of older colts and boxes talking with someone at the table, i think the dealer saw me standing by and on purposely started bullshitting with the guy - after about 5 minutes i left, thinking id catch the guy later. never did. But yes, i dont know why they waste time asking to see something when everyone knows they wont come close on price to. wearing signs might look stupid, but i think that the only way to get market value at a show.......
