I had a chance to shoot one of these for the first time today. It was a 6.5 CM. Had a nice balance to it. Shot pretty well with some factory match.

Dont know if I should be bitter or pleased. Not sure it was worth doing the shroud upgrade since if people wanted it could aftermarket, unless it's just to snub them. Makes sense to make average shooter (none of us here) like the guns felt recoil out of the box with a cheap brake.

Biggest thing is the non shitty handguard unless it ends up with same problem? Wonder if it would have a cheap upgrade option from Ruger if you had original, or if I'm better off with another brand handguard. (Havn't looked into it yet, still need to get a scope.....)

I really have no idea why people complain about the handguard. Mine has worked great. The muzzle device, eh. The bolt shroud...should have been on the original.

The handguard being kinda flimsy and coming canted/off center was not winning points

They would have been better served increasing production of what they had.

I'm guessing the new handguard is just cheaper than the old one.

    Bleh muzzlebrake.

Happy about the aluminum shroud. I wonder if I'll get an aluminum replacement when I report the self-destruction of my plastic piece.

I still need to call them about AICS mags not fitting.
    9mm - because they don't make a 9.1mm

Call ruger, explain the issue (like everyone else has) then ask what if any charge there would be to send you the updated version. It's either going to be no charge or more then what you can buy on for on line.

While i understand the frustration of a slightly canted hand guard. Since this is an Optics (not iron sight) platform. Does it really matter?

Other than looking goofy? Probably not. But i know the reviewers hammered them on it and the average fudd reads and runs.

Really i need to look into a suitable mlok hand guard is what I'd prefer over key mod. Maybe a little longer too.

The "reviewers" are for the most part morons. Having spent several days on the range ROing "Gun Media" types will get you there. Many of those people took the handguard off without backing off the set screw then were too stupid to figure out they made a mistake. The Evolution is not a flimsy handguard at all.
