Mike says that the mags I ordered will ship tomorrow and he has boxes of them posted over on The Hide. I guess I'll report back when I get them. Still no word on when GAP or Elkhorn will mod rifles, though Mike says that he will start to convert rifles- but I don't think he is taking any more rifles at this time to convert. I think he might open it up in 6-8 weeks.
I'll stop buying black rifles when my wife stops buying black shoes.

    I spoke with Elkhorn.

He said to wait for the mags and make sure they work for others before doing anything.

He also hates stock Remington Bolt noses. Much prefers PTG bolts.

    Got a PTG bolt.

How do you have your 40x (s?) set up; barrel (chambers?), triggers, etc - or is that the 'special sauce' ?

Odd for him to question the mags, since Mike has shown some rifles converted by Elkhorn, even posted a vid of one running rounds? At least that is what I thought.

I've ben in touch with elk horn as well, he's converted one and was hung up waiting for the mag before he could quote an accurate price and time frame. So I'm sitting and waiting myself, but my 40 really needs to be a repeater!

This has been so long, I've almost forgotten why I want it

It sounds like the stiller action is alive, but I haven't seen many posts on it lately. The other conversion I've seen nothing on.

PTG is coming out with a 40X action clone?

Wow, I was not aware that they had one in the works. I would almost feel better cutting one of those up for the conversion than my factory 40x HB, except for the price point it looks like a great option, the price is actually on par, except for the fact that I'm into my 40x a lot less. Be curious to see what you think of the mags when you have them in hand, sounds like yours may have shipped already?

The chamber was cut with an EPS reamer. One is a Lilja and the other is a Douglas.

    I am using a Tubb 2-stage trigger.

Lilja Barrel, EPS reamer, cone breach, "tuned up" stock Rem trigger.

A cone breach makes me nervous- won't firing on an empty chamber- something far more likely with a repeater- cause on issue, or can you get the firing pin set up so it won't be an issue? Mike says his conversion makes it so it won't be an issue

Hoser, I was just looking at those Tubb 7T7 triggers. They look wicked cool and wicked expensive.

No, just have to get firing pin protrusion correct. I've dry fired mine thousands of times.
