Default Not happy with 2 Shields.

So, long while back received a Shield in trade, front sight was missing the white paint on it. Ok whatever, it's a spare fix it someday.

My shield I'd put a few mags through and only been a desk gun and occasional carry. Went and shot 2 mags today..... lost the paint in the front sight in the middle of the mag.

Need to white out them or figure out what to repaint with. (Something that can glow would be nice). Not at a point where I want to drop $100 something each for new sights altogether, pretty much a point shooting gun anyways.

Using search this forum for "Shield" didnt see the other thread, if Mods want to merge I'm cool with that since this isn't exactly a full review. I still love them as being inbetween super subcompact and compact aka I can get my fingers on the 8 round mag and accurate for what it is. Just Kinda Pissed that the paint issue seems to be more than a fluke.

You think the Shield is only a point shoot gun?

No, said I'm happy that it is more accurate that other subs, but in all likelyhood it's going to be used at bad breath distance.

The white dot disappearing seems to be common place on the shield.

I'm old enough that I remember when pistols didn't even have dots on the sights. Didn't seem to keep us from shooting them.

Maybe you could ask for a set of sights for Christmas?

Years back, some vendor at the gun show used to sell fluorescent green and orange stickers in various shapes (dots, bars, different widths and sizes) for sights. I did a set on my 1911, and they're still there to this day. Pretty cheap too (both the stickers and me).

I've found fishing lure paint (which comes in tons of colors) holds up great for long term use. I put it on and after it cures, use a razor blade to shape it nicely.

Had the same front sight issue on my full size M&P. One other issue I've had with mine is the mag release button is showing a bit of rust. Pretty sure I've heard of this happening before though and that there might be a fix for it?
