    Default Desert Bighorn

My dad was one of 11 Colorado residents lucky enough to draw a once in a lifetime tag for Desert Bighorn Sheep. The season opened Sunday morning and at 4:00 Sunday afternoon dad pulled the trigger and it was over. Dad and his guide floated down the river 2 miles on Saturday morning then scouted for the rest of the day. Sunday morning found them hiking above the river valley, and at 2:00 they spotted two rams. They crawled and slid and snuck their way to 90 yards, dads rifle barked, echoed down the valley, and just as quickly as it began, it was over. 12:30 a.m. Monday morning and 10 1/2 miles of hiking later they where back at camp. The ram was 7 1/2 years old, he was a nice 3/4 curl with 13 5/8" bases. Congrats to my dad on taking an awesome animal.

Nice, congrats... looks like a double lung shot as well. Great job all the way around.

That is awesome! Tell him it's really expensive to get a shoulder mount and I'll happily cover the cost and provide lifetime storage on my wall!

    congrats to your dad!

I'll be sure to let him know, but I think he already has a spot picked out right between his two Dall sheep. He's going to do a pedestal shoulder mount with this ram to go along with one of his Dall's that's on a pedestal. And your right, it's not cheap, $1100 for a pedestal mount and $900 just to do a standard shoulder mount.

Nice! That will look great. Yeah it is amazing what taxidermy costs! Even my pair of wood ducks was $500 in a cool mount last year. Hoping to get some more cool birds this year and maybe something else special, we shall see!

post a picture of all 3 when he gets it back, probably in a yearish I imagine? would be cool to see all of them together.
