Yes. It's always open. May be a little muddy.

I saw a guy pull in yesterday in a sedan. Please leave stupid at home. If your vehicle is not 4 wheel drive and you don't have recovery gear WALK!

I've never been there. It may be perfectly usable when wet and accessible without adversely affecting the area either by foot or vehicle. Just a reminder that it's not always the case.

Amen. Another hazard of popular open shooting areas. Often zero range discipline. And making sure you aren't the idiot or that you don't bring an idiot only solves half the problem. Often the idiot is already there sweeping everyone and trying to replicate some shootout he saw in a movie. Probably 1 out of 3 trips to an open range leads to me de-assing the area before I ever fire a shot.

I toss an empty trash can into my truck when I go to open shooting areas. It's amazing that I seldom need to walk more than 30' in any direction to fill it before I leave. I haven't been to the south site yet but I hear it periodically turns into a scrap yard. I saw one public area and one privately owned but open to public area in Kentucky get shut down for that.

One way to pollute an area is to "mud-bog" your way to the shooting area when it's muddy. It's not a big deal in some areas but many boarder plowed or otherwise maintained fields and rutting them is just like leaving a shot up television behind. Maybe even worse. That's not to say that you should only go when the surface is dry but just because you have a vehicle that can make it, doesn't mean you should. Just depends on the specific area.
