    Default local rifle ranges?

Hi, I'm pretty new to the list and when I saw this sub-forum, I thought this might be a perfect place to finally get the info I am after. I take my father out shooting at least one every couple of weeks and for the warmer months, we have been going to the place 15 miles south of Conifer but it's really only good for pistol or maybe carbine shooting. Is there a place anywhere close to the lakewood/littleton area that is open for shooting at least 100 yards or more? I only know of one indoor 100yd range and I am on supplemental oxygen so that jerk won't let me shoot there. I could maybe, and I do mean maybe see that if I was on liquid oxygen but I use concentrated air right out of the sky that I fill at home and if you aren't going to let me shoot because of the minute chance that someone might shoot the tank, then they should just close all the ranges on the minute chance that a flaming unicorn carrying a nuclear weapon may run down the line goring everyone, burning down the structures, and causing general unrest before detonation...or something

There's outdoor ranges around, but nothing "close to Lakewood/Littleton" that I'm aware of. Gonna be tough to find near the city. Not sure what the range at Cherry Creek State Park has for rifles, never been there.

There's a lot of gun clubs with great ranges, take your pick. But all will be a drive. There's a nice public range up in the mountains on US40 between Hot Sulphur Springs and Parschal, but that's a serious drive. Nice trip, but no facilities so you'd have to go prepared.

I'm a member and huge fan of the Ben Lomond Gun Club which is an awesome place, but it's NOT close to the city by any means. Close to an hour from my house in Parker. But a mighty hard place to beat, IMO.

I'm sure the range that won't allow oxygen tank is simply following his insurance guidelines. Good Luck finding a range.

For what it's worth, I've taken a full slug in the leg from a ricochete at an indoor range (it might have actually been at that same range come to think of it), and he public does terribly stupid things with guns at ranges. Not wanting to have an accident be compounded by an explosion doesn't make anyone a jerk. Not to mention the fact that he has no way of knowing you fill your own tank with normal atmosphere.

Check out the range at cherry creek state park. 100 yard rifle ranges an I know for a fact they've had shooters on supplimental o2 without issue.

Thanks for all of the good info guys. And Irving, you are correct. After thinking about it, as an owner, he has all the right in the world to tell me I can't shoot there. I did explain to him that I wasn't carrying liquid oxygen and several ranges in town let me shoot with no issues but they only have pistol ranges but he wouldn't budge.Still, i shouldn't have called him a jerk. For that, I apologize.
