A month? Ha! I would keep them separated but able to see each other via some kind of separate cage for about a week, and then integrate them. Depends on the individual birds' temperaments though. I've always been pretty cavalier about introducing new birds immediately and they've always done fine. However there's also enough land here that they can give each other space until they get comfy with each other.

I've found that a lot of the common wisdom about keeping chickens is overblown like that, especially when it comes to roosters. It's not like Highlander where they fight it out to the death. Mine have all grown up together and done fine, but even when a new one has been introduced, they just fight a little to establish dominance and the status quo and it's settled from there.

That's kind of what I assume reading all this stuff. Right now, there is no run and they'll have the whole yard to run around and explore. I'm planning on picking up a few more tomorrow morning and they can hang out all day to figure stuff out.

Grown pullets from Wardle Feed over in Wheat Ridge. They don't do chicks between October and February, which is fine since I'm not ready to dedicate any time to chicks.

FYI: Any HOA restrictions as far as poultry is concerned, you can usually get around by giving them names and calling them 'pets.'

Some of mine were named after chicken-type MREs. So we had Dumpling, Tetrazzini, Noodles and Fajita.

If anyone is interested, this FAQ page has been pretty helpful, even though I found it after I read a bunch of other stuff and had pretty much finished up the coop.
