Anyone had a chance to try one? I like how compact it is, but can't seem to determine if it is more gimmicky or a good addition to "the bag".

14 . Always carry a change of underwear.
nope, saw one earlier though on the web, seems like it might be handy.
Sometimes people trip and fall down stairs.
Sometimes assholes push people down stairs.
That doesn't mean "stairs are bad" nor does it make someone who pushes someone down the stairs any less of an asshole.
I really like gerber products. I would say it fills an extreme niche. It's designed to store in the grip. I'd rather have real tools and keep the weight off my gun
I do think having a compact castle nut wrench could be really handy on its own. The cleaning/scraping aspects are also nice and a CAT tool can cost $35 on its own. I could see myself adding one of these to my range bag.
The "k" is silent.
If one showed up in my stocking on Christmas morning, I wouldn't re-gift it.
Dedicated tools are generally better but I can't see it hurt to have this around.
They are out of stock right now but you can get it $12 cheaper on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Short-S...lti-Tool+Black
I played with one off and on for a month now. Like blacklabel said, dedicated tools are better, but this thing can do in a pinch in the middle of nowhere and it fits into a Magpul AR handle. I wish I had one during my last Iraq tour.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
