I have a fabric couch , 3 cushion standard size I need to get rid of. There's one small tear on one seat cushion so neither ARC or Goodwill will take it. Not going to put it up on cl-any of you know of a decent place that'll come get it?

I've found $89 to be the cheapest, I'd gladly give it away to anyone that would come get it. If I had the room I'd use it in my family room but already have one there.

You could advertise in the Free section of CL. Clean it up and post a picture. Craigslist works, and it's cheaper than hauling it to the regional landfill north of Denver which will cost you about $98 for a pickup load.

FWIW, I recently needed to unload an old fabric hide a bed sofa we used for 24 years. Cleaned it with a rug doctor extraction cleaner and washed the seat and arm covers. Looked and smelled good. Took two months but it sold on CL for $160 (10% of what we paid for it new). I didn't have to haul it, and the sale helped pay for the $7K sofa I replaced it with.

I've bought and sold a lot of furniture on CL. Have gotten some beautiful, high quality pieces, cheap. The trick it to price it right, typically 5-25% of new. Fabric items are at the low end, bonded leather is worthless. If it isn't worth much, give it away. Lots of people are looking for free stuff (whether they need it or not).

Depending on where you're at in Centennial, if you have more to get rid of, there's the transfer station on Jordan, about 3/4 of a mile South of Arapahoe. IIRC it's $70 up to 800lbs. Or DADS on Gun Club and Hamden is about $20 per large item.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm definitely not into cl folks coming by my house-whenever I've done stuff through there I meet at a very public place. I've got about 8 weeks before the new couch arrives so I've got a little time.

If you don't mind me jumping in on the thread - anybody have any tips for getting rid of mattresses cheap?

Most places will haul off old ones free when you buy new.

Couches strip the fabric and cushions. Cut the arms off the whole short end. Split the back from the bottom. Split those down the center. Distribute to dumpsters or trash cans. One piece a week or whatever.

Matresses that arent pocket coils. Cut two sides bend the fabric back and remove it. Itll fit in a trash bag. Give the coil to a scrapper. It works good as reinforcing mesh in concrete if you split the top and bottom and you're being cheap.

Box springs contain nothing. Strip the fabric bust or cut the wood frame down to nothing.

You could bring it to Grand Junction where the tipping fee for a full pickup load is $5 at the county landfill. And, if you come on one of the two free dump days, well, bring as many loads as you want. Our commissioners actually think it's beneficial for people to properly dispose of their trash without raping the citizens on disposal fees designed to benefit special interests in corrupt relationships through the wonderful concept of "wealth redistribution".

Doc45, are you on the Nextdoor site of your neighborhood? You can get rid of a lot of furniture that way- people are always seeking stuff for their mancaves.

If you have ProDisposal as your trash collector, they'll take mattresses away for an extra $10.
