    Default Out of State Transfer/FFL

I found someone in the Houston area, that would trade a rifle. What is the best method to accomplish this without being swindled. He designated the FFL. So I would ship my rifle, he takes possession, and ships one back.

    Thanks.

Get a local FFL involved. Have your FFL contact the receiving FFL and arrange between them that neither will ship yours or the other guy's rifle or trade item until it is confirmed between them that they are both in procession of the respective items.
This way you are assured that at least the item you are trading for exists and that it ships when your rifle ships.
Make sure that you get pictures of the trade item with serial number so that the other FFL can verify you are getting what you are trading for.
It may cost a few extra bucks to have an FFL go through this trouble, but both you and the trading party should be paying the shipping and charges at your respective ends.

You ship a rifle he takes possession then ships one back? Why not you both ship the same time? That sounds very suspicious to me.
