    Default What to build...

So, I find myself with a spare action sitting in the safe, and I'm bored, so I want to build it.

It's a Savage 4.4" short action, and I have a stock and DBM for it as well. There is also a Steiner 3-15 sitting around that it will likely get.

What should I chamber this one in? I have .308 already.

    Some I have considered:
    .243
    .260
    6.5x47
    6x47 Lapua

    Thoughts???
    Reasons???

Should have added that in there, yes I do.

I have the equipment and parts to load everything I shoot (if it can be reloaded), so going to some new caliber (the direction I am leaning) will require new dies/caliber conversions/components.

I like all of those. Use and barrel life tend to be the balance factors for me.

6.5 CM is another great option.

I noticed mile high shooting has the AICS in stock for savage rifles.

What are you planning on shooting with it? Any games are just an occasional long range plinker? Hunting? Ect.

This one will be a long range plinker, hopefully LR/precision matches, and just something different.

I have plenty of stuff to hunt with, so it's ability to knock down animals isn't critical.

6.5 Creedmoor. Can hand load or get good factory match ammo if needed
