Default Plastic Bottle Recycling Tool Has Endless Possibilities

Sorry I can't find the video on youtube, but this is their product website, and it seems pretty feasible to make it yourself out of a block of wood and a razorblade.

    Product video:

Kickstarter link with same video if you are allergic to Facebook:
    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-bottle-cutter

If you can't watch the video for some reason, it demonstrates a simple device that turns a plastic bottle into a very long ribbon of plastic, which has considerable strength and many uses for bonding things together like rope.

Posting it here, because this seems like it would have endless applications for a SHTF or general emergency scenario.

I can think of a ton of great ideas already.

-Swallow a little bit each day for several months like the guy in the Crumb documentary.
-Weave a weather proof hammock to sell to hipsters with the slogan, "Keep the plastic out of our land fills, and on your front porch!"
-Same idea as above, but woven grocery bags with the slogan, "Never lose your watermelon/gallon of milk/box of kitty litter to a weak plastic bag again!"
-Strangle an entire flock of geese, all at the same time.

But really, that's a pretty cool idea. At the least, I'd probably turn bottles into strands just to have more space in the recycling bin. I think the hammock and grocery bag ideas are actually legitimate ideas for etsy or pintrest, and I'm very curious about the tensile strength of the cords.

Someone needs to combine this with a chipper and a hopper to make plastic wire and feed into a 3d printer.

Saw it earlier today on Kickstarter and almost bought in until I saw the ridiculous amount of shipping they were charging.

On second thought, this would be much more useful with a flip out blade to prep the bottle. Without a way to cut off the bottom of the bottle cleanly, this tool isn't very helpful.
