That makes my decision tough. I'm looking for a daily carry knife but knives are one thing I'm a bit rough on. I know the 530 is thin and light and the handle is made out of plastic and that's why I'd like to handle one in person before buying one.

Is that a Spyderco? I've had a few over the years but have given up on them and thought I'd try something else. In fact, I just tossed my last one in the trash a week or two ago.

Honestly, I'm not planning on carrying this at work. I've actually started carrying a Boker stockman for work duties. I use one blade for just about everything, a second blade for some less daunting tasks, and try not to use the third blade and keep it for a reserve in case the other two get too dull or damaged between sharpenings.

I tend to do things with my knives that you aren't supposed to do. Like remove screws, pry on things, lay cardboard down on metal grating and cut the cardboard (dinging the blade on the grating in the process), scrape stubborn gaskets off of cast iron parts, and other stupidity. Hoping to get something a bit lighter than what I normally carry hoping not using it at work will allow it to last a while.

I'm guessing you'll really need to just handle it and see for yourself. I'm not hard on knives at all (the only manual labor I do is in a gym), and even I thought it seemed flimsy. I had the one with G10 handle, and it was quite light. With all that said, because I'm not hard on knives, I wish I wouldn't have traded the Pardue away, it worked perfect for my uses. The Spyderco Manix II and the Zero Tolerance (which I carry now) are just a bit heafty for my needs.

Ray, I also tend to be hard on my knives when I actually use them. Do you have a simple process to resharpen them each time? I find that it tends to be a bit of a pain to keep my main blade sharp and in good condition.

Yeah it is a spiderco, my first. It seems to be a durable knife, outside of work I'm really not that hard on knives.

I don't sharpen mine near as often as I should. I have quite a few methods of sharpening. Stones and diamond hones, a Lansky setup, several small automatic sharpener things. Lately, due to time constraints and general laziness, I would just send it home with a co-worker who has some sort of belt sander sharpener and let him deal with it.

I have an original leatherman tool that would probably work well for me to carry at work but it's a bit big and heavy for pocket carry and I don't wear a belt to carry it on.

I know it's a little farther than local but Specialty Sports in COS usually has a big selection of Benchmade.

If you're up this way Coren Printing carries BM.

Yeah, I haven't ruled out Emerson or Zero Tolerance yet either. Although I was hoping to keep it around $150 or less so that might limit me.

    Sounds like me.

Best decision I ever made was to start carrying one of these:

I still have my ZT Blem that I take when at church or in office meetings, but around the house or actual work, I wander around with the dewalt.
