Does anyone here do home tile or wood flooring installation or can recommend a company that is willing to do small square footage jobs?

I'd be a little leery of tiling stairs. I would think they would flex too much and cause problems. But, I really don't know much about this kind of stuff.
I sure wouldn't want a slick surface on stairs.....
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!

I have a guy I've used before for carpet. Good job for a fair price who says he does tile.
Tile stairs are a bitch for more than just the above reasons
Well it is either tile or wood flooring on the stairs both equally slick and no more so than what is on there now. I do not want carpet on them.
There is a no slide tape you can put on the tile or wood but I'm not sure if that's the look you'd like.

which ever direction I go (tile or wood) I can put a stair nosing on that matches the new flooring and has some sort of non skid surface to it.
My initial comment about the tile was more concern about the tile or the grout cracking because of the inherent flex that pretty much any set of stairs is going to have.
Personally, I'd go with the wood since it should hold up to the flex when people walk on it.
Post up pictures whatever you do. I have several sets of stairs I am thinking about doing wood on.
Tile on stairs is okay, but you want to use smaller tiles for the reasons mentioned (flexing, cracking, etc). As Ray and a few others have mentioned, staircases have some flex in them, usually just as a side effect of the design.
I did hardwood on our stairs, and about 70% of our upstairs, by using pre-finished 3/4" thick true hardwood. I bought a flooring stapler, and it went down fast and has been fantastic since.
I have also done tile in our master bed room, master bathroom, and upstairs bathroom. Tile takes a bit more to get done right, but if you take your time, and think through it, tile is also pretty easy.
