Default Is my garage door dead?

Had a garage opener, apparently had 2 lights, I thought only one. It would come in and out. Finally died completely. Today went to replace the lights, plugging in a new bulb it under the lightest pressure actually stripped the rim from the glass and it sparked and went out.

Unplugged the thing, put some new bulbs that didnt get smushed somehow and replugged in... No power at wall outlet, doesn't seem to be any at unit. Tried a different outlet in case one of the two above it was switched. Notta......

Bright ideas? Is this what I'm supposed to use homeowners insurance on?

Nevermind anyways. One tiny breaker pin got me, I keep expecting it to be tripped over into off and not in the middle. In the gloom i missed it but double checked.

Insurance wouldn't cover that anyway. Glad you got it figured out.

Both light sockets are still dead but I can live with that since a seperate light in there. They both look kinda black and corroded. Wonder if trying to scrape the contacts clean would fix her up but not sure it's worth the headache.

Unplug it before you start scraping. If not, at least video the process!

Forget about the light. Throw 1 or 2 motion sensor led units in the garage, call it good.

NEVER CALL THE INS. CO UNLESS there's no roof or structure standing after a tornado, something caught fire and did over $3-5K worht of damage, or some idiot did a S&F on your property.

Un plug the unit and clean the contacts, you got nothing to loose. There could also be an internal fuse for the lights.
