Yea, this time she let me know I'd be given no quarter. I've encountered her several times and she's usually tolerant of a respectful approach. I believe she's the same cow I've shown on earlier pages in this thread. But she and the calves have been using a trail frequented by skiers and mountain bikers and I suspect people and their dogs have made her more wary.

    Default Cool Cat

I spotted this guy hunting voles in a meadow this afternoon. A pretty healthy looking bobcat.

    Default The Neighbors

The neighbors stopped by this morning to say howdy. Looking for free beer, no doubt. Those neighbors!

This afternoon I went up to a lake a mile from the house and was delighted to watch 3 River Otters swimming, sunning, running and sliding on the snow. What fun!

The pic of the one swimming is from about 40 yards, and the two on the snow are about 350 yards away.

We had 5 inches of snow overnight, but decided to brave the high winds and go up to the lake again this morning. Much of the lake was covered in slush and floating ice sheets. We saw three otters catching

and eating fish, and a bald eagle trying to steal fish from them.... The half-acre ice sheet the otters were on was being blown downwind across the lake. It was like right out of Wild America!

I'm gradually getting some good videos of it all.

Working on the farm in Palisade for a few days so I put out a hummingbird feeder today and was rewarded with a first-of-season male Black-chinned Hummingbird.

Our hummers are late this year, still no sign.

This video isn't mine but is worth watching. https://youtu.be/IILPd0btbtU
