I am my own action figure
Match is Saturday, weather looks great.
This Saturday we are having the Athletic Shooting Challenge at Colorado Rifle Club.
Set up at 8am, shooters meeting at 8:45 and shoot at 9am. $10 entry.
So what is ASC?
No stage walks, no reset, shooting fundamentals after physical exertion. Only 5 rounds loaded at a time. Targets will be a single steel gong or 5 plates per engagement. The competitor has up to 200 seconds to complete, runs, drags, crawls, carrys, throws mixed in with shooting a pistol and carbine on the specified target, do not advance until you go 5 for 5. All stages have a maximum time of 200 seconds. Best time wins.
Here is the WSB for stage 1. From Box A, at the start signal, hit the far gong 5 times with rifle. Table rifle and drag tire to box B then run to box C. Hit 5 KD plates. Disassemble, reassemble and load pistol magazine then run to Box D resetting plates on the way. Hit far gong 5 times. Run to Box B and drag tire back to box A, then hit the far gong 5 times with rifle.
I don't care if you bring a revolver or a high cap Open pistol...it won't matter much, but you need a secure holster. The Carbine, again I don't really care what you bring as long as you have no steel ammo, nothing over 3200 fps no PF over 300. You will need to be able to reload 5 rounds at least twice for the carbine and the pistol. You will need to load more if you miss, but they will be loose rounds from a pocket. I shot this stage this week with a bolt gun and a .38 Revolver then my AR and M&P9, the difference was insignificant. But if you don't go 5 for 5, you have to start over. The targets will be fairly decent size. You can have a sling, but don't need it.
There will be a dummy pistol magazine available if your pistol mag is a PITA to disassemble. This is not a gear race, it is physical exertion and shooting fundamentals.
I have three stages designed and we might shoot 2 or 3 depending on how many people show up.
ONLY pistol and carbine this time...No shotgun.
