    In addition to a used Savage 10/110 don't forget the Stevens 200 which is also the pre-accutrigger Savage 10/110. These can be had for about $200-250 used.
    Don't get the scope combo guns. They optics are trash compared to even a budget minded scope. (I usually spend at least as much on the scope as the rifle)
    I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

    My second Savage 10 cost me $175 at a Pawn shop after I haggled with them for the barrel being shot-out-ish, the action having some scratches, and the stock being painted.
    Threw the stock away.
    Sanded and painted the action.
    Bought a Shilen Drop in barrel.
    Bought a B&C Medalist stock.

    I still have it, with a 3rd barrel on it, and it's been a fantastic investment.
