So, I have heard that goose meat is not very good but I was wondering about ducks. I don't hunt for sport so I have no interest in killing stuff that I won't eat but I have never eaten duck. Are they worth eating or are they just a sport animal?

“Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.” - William Pitt
duck is delicious, and the fat is fantastic. It is all dark meat and rich in flavor. Most folks, by far, who try duck for the fist time find the non-chicken-y aspect of the flavor to be mild and enjoyable.
p.s. I like goose but it is a stronger tasting animal. Goose is definitely more than edible, IMO.
I'd agree about geese only as it applies to Canadians, not Snow Geese. My opinion is that Snow's are greasy nasty tough birds that serve no better purpose than to give folks something other than skeet to shoot. Since I'm like Westy and won't shoot it if I don't plan on eating it, I wont hunt Snows.
Now, about ducks, they can be very delicious. I agree with Rampart about the fat too. In fact, duck fat is used in a lot of culinary masterpieces to enhance the flavor. If you're even considering it, DEFINITELY take the leap to duck hunting - it's tough to bag the buggers but well worth it when you do.
