I recently acquired a 6" SilencerCo suppressor cover in FDE to use on my Surefire SOCOM 762 mini. Finding a suppressor cover rated to take the abuse of semi-auto fire is fairly difficult. According to their web site, "Our high temperature covers are specially designed to hold up against a more vigorous firing schedule of up to three magazines of semi-automatic fire with a reasonable break between each magazine of at least a minute. Both versions are meant to mitigate mirage and protect against moderate or high temperatures; neither version is intended to be used during full auto or excessive rapid firing."

Challenge accepted.

And it failed. I ran two twenty round mags of M193 out of my 10.3" SBR with the suppressor on and covered with the suppressor cover. I paused approximately 60 seconds between magazines. Rounds were fired approximately one per second. It melted it like it was on a stove... It melted through the carbon felt in the center of the cover and melted the condura and velcro. It also melted the condura at the seam of the overlap on the inside. The search for a can cover for my AR's continues.

I have pics and will post them when I get a chance tonight.
