Default Sparky thread time. What gauge wire for direct bury?

I am going to run a direct bury wire out from my barn (100-120ft) to where I am installing an automatic waterer. This will be used to plug in the heater. They run from 225 watts to 1500 watts. That is all that would run off of this line. I will do a gfci there.

I think last time I did this I ran 10-2, but its been a while.

12.5 amps so I think you need at least 12 ga, maybe more depending on how far it is.

The calculation for that load (12.5 amps) & distance (120 ft.) works out to 10 AWG, for a 3% loss...

Be sure to get the UF (gray, underground DB rated), not the white non- DB rated Romex.

You're welcome, by the by, the code also states that it the circuit breaker at the panel can be no larger than 15 amps.
