I saw some turkeys along the road to Bishops Castle this last summer. Hope this sighting helps you bag one!

All we got was a big fat goose egg.... In fact if I got a goose egg I could make a nice goose egg omelet filled with turkey.
mmmmmmmmm food
My first time out Turkey hunting. I saw lots of hens but no toms. I didn't hear any tom reply's to my calls either. Was fun anyways. Dam almost took a hen but resisted![]()
I'm not going this year, but it seems spring turkey is always easier. They're more inclined to respond to calls when they're horny. In fall, they're only interested in fattening up.
From watching the Rio Grandes on our place, in the fall they will be in groups of all hens and babies, or all jakes and toms. We've got a couple of groups of hens and babies that will walk right through the yard, and a group of a dozen or so jakes that stay farther away.
We did have the group of jakes walk by the barn last Saturday though, about 70 yards away. I need to get a license.
