I've noticed an interesting progression of what's been known as "a truck gun". A long time ago in a galaxy far far away the truck gun I saw and used more than anything else was an older Winchester 94. When I became a deputy sheriff in the late 70s my load out was a S&W 66 4", S&W 60 as a backup, Remmy 870 and the Winchester. After I left the SO due to an off duty accident I kept that Winchester and it's place of honor riding under my truck seat until I moved to Colorado.
I had augmented the lever gun with various semi-auto pistols of one sort or another over the years-Colt Gov't, Browning Hi-Power, S&W 59 usually though a smattering of S&W wheelguns rode along as well. Once the various "shorty" ARs started coming out it seemed only natural to progress in that direction. Then the next step seemed to develop towards an AR pistol. In the past couple of years I had the chance to handle and shoot a few of these as well as some very nice SBRs and f/a weapons.
It now makes total sense to me to put an AR pistol in this role, can shoot one as accurately as needed out to 75 yards or so (better have a damn good reason to engage a target at that distance lol) and it's tons of fun besides.
I guess all this just makes me an old dog learning new tricks. There have a been a couple of you guys here that generously let me try your items in addition to other friends that have them and I thank you all.
