I have to say I really like the one handed operation of my knife. Didn't know the terms before reading this but I guess I have a Double Action OTF. It's not super tactical but I'd say 70%ish of the times I'm using my knife it's to open a package or breaking down the boxes later. I really like that I can be holding a box with one hand, deploy the blade with the other and cut, retract the blade, all without putting things down. That was the worst sentence ever but I don't care either so take that!

Good conversation about OTF Autos - I will concede breaking down boxes is a joy with any of the double actions I have owned. My first run infidel on launch hit cardboard and was knocked out of its channel and had to be reset. I find myself not trusting them for anything other than cutting tape etc. I have carried the single action OTF and they are heavy duty tools. I love the function and feel of the OTF and look forward to trying them out again. For now I lean to a solid Benchmade Mini Rukus Auto that I value and a few other Protechs I can enjoy now that the law is on our side.

I want a nice OTF, like a Microtech, I really do.

That said, I can deploy offhand, my cheapo SOG Flash II, and close the blade one handed offhand as well.

I have a couple Gerber 06 autos. Nice chunky auto that can take a beating, but sucks for left hand deploy, and technically they're bigger than CO law allows.

    Many good opinion.
Buy em all and carry em all. As for me, I will eventually save $$ by eliminating time to look for box cutter/scissors. I literally have about 300-400sq-ft of spaces dedicated to boxes at home.

My primary usage of EDC Knife is basically box cutting/Opening boxes. As I said before, carrying a EDC back of my pocket really really saves me time by not spending 30sec +/- to look for scissors or box cutters.

As for cheap box cutting (glorified box cutter) Kershaw Ken Onion collabration knives works great. Even those $18 kershaw zing works for me. Someone recommended Spyderco for box cuttingm, but I just cannot open my arms to Spyderco knives yet.

As for quick usage or normal outing, I would sometimes carry OTFs. It is just faster in-use-out.

I'm not saying that nobody can do it but it's just quicker/easier. "click" use "click" all w/o changing hand position or adjusting anything. It's really that fast. Much like I can walk outside and manually open each of my sprinkler zones by hand but I'd much prefer clicking a button on my smartphone and having them magically run all by themselves after one click. Does that make me lazy? You bet! And I love it. lol

I just realized that there are far too few photos so here's what I'm carrying today:

Fresh back from Microtech for service is a desert camo Ultratech which has served me well. One of my favorite EDC knives due to it's size, ruggedness, the fact it doesn't look shiny and new so I can use it w/o feeling like a dick for munging it up. Unlike my full size Infidel for instance it seems to disappear in the pocket due to it's weight and size plus how smooth the inside of the handle is so I don't feel any sharp edges against my leg reminding me there's a knife there.

Went to the dark side and picked up an Infidel today.

Browsing at DangerLee while doing paperwork is dangerous.

Technically over Colorado's 3.5", but DADT and just like CCW, don't play with your junk in public right?

Whats up with those Ravencrest and other OTF knives?
    Any experiences?
