On the non-hinged side there are posts on the door that slide into holes on the unit where the switches are. Here's a pic of the switch iteself. I'm at work so I can't show you a pic of the cabinet or door right now.

The two slots in the center of the pic have the switches behind them. The posts on the door slide in and trip the switches. If the switches are faulty, it can cause the microwave to "turn on" but not heat stuff up and not shut off (I had both of these symptoms) among other things.

I had one of the hinge pins wear through and break off on the microwave door, so I had to drill it and use a self tapping screw as a hinge pin.
$.12 for a self tapping screw, hopefully get a couple more years out of the MW

Splays for the Bidet
Ah. Different issue than what we had then.
Another fun issue we had was the grill up top breaking off. I fixed with marine tex and then shaped to mimic its opposite side with dremel and a sanding wheel. Lol.
