No. They have been known to carry the plague.

Birds eat em. Ever seen 3 or 4 Bald Eagles fighting over a dead field rat?

Where I go the birds of prey show up about 20 minutes after the first shot for free lunch.

Oh wow. Is that true you need to wait until you've been in CO 6 months before you can get a resident hunting license? I don't want to miss out on this season

Not sure. I don't need a license to shoot them. (Private property varmint control).

From the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Website, http://cpw.state.co.us/thingstodo/Pages/SmallGameDatesFees.aspx

PURCHASING OR APPLYING FOR A COLORADO RESIDENT HUNTING AND OR FISHING LICENSE
For purposes of determining residency for hunting and fishing license sales, a Colorado “resident” is any person
who has lived in this state for at least six consecutive months immediately prior to the date of license application
or license purchase with the intention of making Colorado their primary state of residency.

    Small Game Dates and Fees
    License and HIP Year

The annual license and Harvest Information Program (HIP) year are the same, beginning on April 1 annually and concluding March 31 annually.

2017-2018 small-game licenses are available from any license agent, CPW office, online, or by phone at 1-800-244-5613.

If you intend to hunt small game (including migratory birds) in Colorado during the 2017/2018 season, you need a new Harvest Information Program number.
Register through the Harvest Information Program (HIP).

    2017-2018 Season Dates

    Prairie dogs: Black-tailed, white-tailed & Gunnison's
June 15 - end of Feb. Public land
    Year-round Private land

    3. Decide Where to Hunt
Colorado is home to a variety of small-game habitat.
From the grain fields of the Eastern Plains to the
steep slopes of the Rockies and the river bottoms
throughout, the small-game hunter can enjoy the
challenges of diverse terrain and species during the
season. Public-land hunting is plentiful and CPW
provides additional walk-in access on registered
private lands annually. Walk-in access properties
are marked with signage on the properties.
    Several
brochures outline small-game hunting access areas:
    Small-Game Walk-In Atlas
    Late Cropland Walk-In Atlas
State Recreation Lands (State Wildlife Areas,State Trust Lands and State Parks)
