    Default Barrel Swap

    Gents,

I bought a DPMS 308 with that ridiculous super high rail that I'd like to change out. I am looking to swap the DPMS 308 barrel from the DMPS upper to put the barrel onto a spanking new Aero upper. I don't have the vise blocks for the 308 and I'd rather not buy them. I looked it having BP Tactical do it real quick for what I assume would be the same cost as the blocks. Or is it better to try to find a loaner set and do it myself? What say you?

    Thanks,
    Charles

It's not a hard job if you consider yourself technically competent. You will need a vise, LR308 barrel wrench, LR308 soft jaws, 1/2" breaker bar and a 1/2" torque wrench if your critical about it. You would need to remove the front sight if it's on the barrel.

DIY. Spend the money for the tools, this way you have them for your next project.

Use one of these with the vise block: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-to...prod72374.aspx

I bought the vice blocks and am going to give it a go this weekend.

    Thanks for the replies
