    I thought about that right after I posted. Water would stain the ceiling tiles, and at least one of them doesn't mind water.

    If weight is a concern get the lightweight sheetrock.

    I have the same issue, only my brats fall thru the ceiling taking tiles or the clear plastic fluorescent light covers w/them. I want to get rid of the dropped ceiling and tiles completely, and renovate the basement, but not sure what the requirements are.
