2001 Ford Excursion 4x4 7.3 Transmission

Will do. Took it to the mountains yesterday, did great. I feel like I need to put a transmission temp gauge on it due to towing.

You may be able to use a Scangauge II to show trans fluid temperature. It worked on both of my 4runners and it works on my Suburban.

Much easier than installing a gauge - just plug it into the OBD-II port. There are other OBD-II port readers that will show trans temp as well. Some of them will send the info to your smartphone.

FORSCAN and a cheap wifi OBD2 adapter.
Not the prettiest app, but is the best diag/service scanner for a Ford and a phone or computer without getting into the high dollar mechanic scan tools. (PC version can even run some service procedures)

This should work, I use Torque Pro and a ScanTool 427201 OBDLink LX Bluetooth (on a cheapo tablet) to keep track of tranny temps and a lot of other info.
