I definitely check feedback now before I start dealing with someone, whether to buy or sell.

^THIS is exactly what the feedback thread is meant for. The site has always provided the TP but has said at the same time that it retains no rights as a mediator or broker of its members deals. While certain cases are exceptions (illegal activity etc) where the staff will step in.
The staff / site mostly relies on the fact that everyone who uses the TP has accepted the rules and if they follow them then there's really nothing left for the staff to do. The feedback thread is an accountability device and should be a precursor and a follow up to every deal that is done. Before you do a deal here check out that members feedback thread, if there is anything questionable about their deals, feedbacks or post them don't deal with them. On that same note if you do a deal and it leaves a salty taste in your mouth then LEAVE FEEDBACK.

    BTW this is just IMHO

    What Mazin just said.

The feedback section is a tool that everyone can use to see if they want to invest time or energy (or money) into trying to put a deal together with someone. That's what it's there for.

If someone is unreliable or even if they are just generally a douche bag in real life as long as they obey the rules here I see no reason for any sort of ban.

I keep a short list of people here that I won't deal with for one reason or another. Some of those people even have a good track record of positive feedback but it doesn't mean I have to choose to deal with them if I don't want to.

Oh, and my guess is lots of negative feedback never gets left when it's probably deserved for fear of hurting someone's feelings by putting a blemish on their otherwise spotless feedback record.

I can say that more than a couple of you have been kind enough to avoid slamming me with negative feedback when I've dropped the ball trying to put a deal together. Not that I'm the flakey type but sometimes things slip my mind, occasionally there is some confusion on my part, and from time to time life throws something unexpected my way and plans have to be cancelled.

The problem which precipitated this thread has been resolved; permanently.

Not sure how this was resolved.

My resolution would have been to take away trading post access from a certain someone and I bet the problem would have worked itself out on it own.

None the less, if thanks are in order, then thank you.

The first lesson here is to participate in the whole site, not just the Trading Post. The next lesson is to do right by the best of your abilities by the other members you're doing deals with.
