Sounds like you have been reading of the same SHTF threads I have.

Not sure what "mountains" they plan on living in. Forest Service, squatting on private property, BLM, open space, KOA...? Not a lot of edibles up here in the winter. Plus there is the little things like snow and wind.

Not preciously, but when I look at the direction all governments seem to be heading and the emergence of greater and greater technology that can be used against us, I do think the only way liberty is going to survive is if humanity is knocked back to the level of, say, the beginning of the 20th century (along with the elimination of millions of what Ayn Rand would call "looters" and "moochers").

I will admit there have been times I've thought it would have been a good idea if God would have simply sterilized Noah and his family (then I feel guilty for a bit).

Peterson has a good bit to say on the hatred of existence (from his excellent "Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories").

I have a get home kit in the truck, good for three days but in my current normal situation I should be able to get home rather quickly. I could hunker down for two weeks, four weeks with rationing for three of us. Capable of defending my position from pretty much anyone. Rural area and some neighbors are pretty much self sufficient and reliable.

I could be better prepared for sure but that would take more money than I can afford right now.
