    Default Any Mossberg Model 42, 43 and/or 44 owners?

I've been cleaning up my gun cabinet and ran across these two rim fire magazines. Doing a little looking online they appear to be seven round magazines from a Mossberg model 42, 43 or 44 rifle. Knowing they guy I got these from I'd say they were for some kind of target rifle possibly military. Does anyone have an idea? I don't have the rifle for them so I'll probably end up listing them for sale but I'd like to know what they are for sure first. Any help would be appreciated.

PS. Any help with how to convince my wife that I need to buy a new rifle because I have these two magazines and 600 rounds of Eley ammo would be appreciated as well.

Tell her the new magazine limit is five rounds and that you are grandfathered in with these seven round magazines. In order not to lose them, you are obligated to buy a rifle to use them.

I have a Mossberg 42M and your mag does not look like mine. I don’t want to dig it out of the safe right now, so I went through some pics I have of mine. The back of your mags have some type of double track that mine don’t have. My 42 mags have a single piece that runs down the center of the back. Just don’t believe your mags would fit my 42. I believe the mags for a Mossberg 152 are similar and have a track of sorts on the back of the mags, but don’t know exactly what they look like.

Broadsword, those are 7-round mags for a 1958-1960 Mossberg 350K semi-auto, my first rifle. It was used when given to me on my 12th birthday in 1963. I still have it, of course. Any semi auto then was a plinker, not a serious target rifle. The Eley was probably for a bolt action target rifle, like my Savage Anschutz Match 54.

Well, sure, that's very nice! PM incoming. I have the original 7-round mag and later picked up a 10-rounder. And I know there were some 15-shot mags made later. That style magazine was used on a few Mossberg models around the time but I'd be surprised if there are many working examples of the rifles left as they were prone to breaking firing pins. The attachment to the bolt was machined too thin for a semi auto. I replaced pins several times and the last remanufactured ones I got from Numrich/Gun Parts were defective. I have one left.
