Well, I'm seeing some good ideas so far. I am packing my own stuff, and moving it slowly to a holding location for now. I don't have a lot of furniture so I figure moving it would be as much as replacing it.....and the bed is high end, dining table is sentimental.

I guess I need to get everything into the holding area and evaluate square footage before I can tell how big a truck will be needed. I doubt I could fill a 28 ft. trailer now that I've thought some more about it. I do have a lot of tools not including my stuff at work, that's going to be a real headache. Along with all the prep stuff I've accumulated in the last few years as well. Dammit, maybe I can fill a 28 ft. trailer....arrrgh.

a 28' trailer is bigger than the biggest U Haul. (26')

it's something like 2000 Cubic feet.

anything that doesn't fit gets burned.

26' is the best way to go. DIY, taking 2 days to get there, maybe 3 if you you take 20-30 min breaks at rest stops. With a 1/2 way point hotel stay.

I used the unpack.com, pickup was as scheduled, drop off was another thing all together.

Cost was ok, give yourself a 3-5 day window for drop off just to be sure
