    My Ram came with factory remote start and it makes my wife jelous that her 2016 Limited 4runner doesn't have it. So for Christmas I decided to tackle this myself! Had a Compustar kit with a custom harness made for easy install, added drone mobile and alarm! Pretty neat setup and works awesome

    It allows you to start your vehicle with a device such as a phone, tablet or watch with unlimited distance. Also you can control your alarm, lock, unlock and aux features. She has the proximity key and she didn't want an extra remote/fob. Her factory remote works but has limited distance so I added drone mobile.

    Does that mean that the vehicle has to be on a network of some kind though?

    Yeah it has a little LTE module that's connected to the remote start "brain". As long as your device has service you can start your vehicle. You do have to pay a subscription but the basic is like $5/mo or $60/yr. If you get the premium subscription you get GPS tracking and other GPS features.

    Wasn't hard but was time consuming. Had a firmware issue with the brain cartridge and since this was a Christmas gift to my wife, Steve overnighted a new one with the updated firmware!
