2016+ Tacoma Opinions?

Just had a co-worker (hard core Tacoma owner) trade his 06 after multiple issues... He owned the truck for less than a year and had multiple transmission issues, the engine is underpowered and he liked his 04 better overall.

Do you have the auto trans? Did you have to do the computer update?

I have the auto mines a 2017 TRD Sport DCSB 4x4. I don't know about an update.

I had an '06 tacoma and no complaints. The 4x4 solenoid would gum up in cold weather though but i learned how to deal with it. If I would have kept it, I would have replaced it. I only sold it to get a diesel for towing.

My 05 has been perfect, but I thought the new models used the same drivetrain? I’d like a new model too, but my old one won’t give up.

Yup. That's how I feel about my 06 4Runner. Only has 144k miles. So why start another payment?

What kind of gas mileage are you getting? I used to be a small truck kind of guy but I never found one that would get better than about 18mpg so I figured I might as well just drive something full size and have more room, more power, and more payload and towing capacity.

I'm getting about 20 city and 22 to 23 highway and I don't drive like a grandma
