Best affordable kitchen appliances?

House is about 10 years old and my GE builders specials are starting to crap out. Microwave still works well but that's about it. I'm looking for a decent set but not crazy like Viking or Sub-Zero... Prefer to stay under $5k for Fridge, gas range, Dishwasher, Microwave I like the black stainless look and have been looking at LG and Samsung but don't have much experience with them. Suggestions? All the local places, HD, Best Buy, Lowes, seem to have the same prices but I'm thinking I will wait till a Vets day or black Friday sale. Any other good local places in the Denver area for appliances? Any good "out of box" places?

EDIT: Also the wifey wants everything to be the same brand, but I don't care as much... Bosch seems to get really good reviews but a little pricier.

The big appliance discounts of the year will be coming out in November from Home Depot and Lowe's. They will both be very competitive for the same appliance but I usually prefer to give my money to Home Depot from experiences. GE, Samsung, and LG are all about top of the class but they all differ some depending on specific appliances. I think you can under the $5k range for a complete setup with their deals that will be coming in days with top of the line equipment. I always use Consumer Reports to review appliances then do further research on reviews of the item online but Consumer Reports gives a great basis to follow.

IMO, I'd steer away from Samsung at least for the dishwasher. Seems to have HAD a lot of issues. Maybe they've straighten them out. Just do your research. Pulling a 5 year old one out Monday that I and repair serice has been out at least 6 times over the last 3 years.
If interested, I mis-ordered a $1500 (950 MW-550 trim kit) Wolf convection MW. They'll take back the MW, less 20% but not the trim kit.
Quick education on big box stores when it comes to appliances and plumbing fixtures, if you didn't already know. Manufacturers will make products exclusively for the big boxes. They are made more "affordable" by using more plastic parts. If things break the and the big box doesn't have the part you will, more than likely, not find it at the local plumbing shops. But the manufacturers are good about sending the replacement free of charge.
In my projects, if it's not SubZero, Wolf or Viking going in, it's Bosch or Kitchen Aid.

Bought new washer and dryer at Sears of all places about 9 months ago.
All the Samsung appliances had the cords cut so that Sears would not sell them.
Seems the company had some serious safety issues and the folks there recommended other brands.
Sears gave us a great deal, free delivery and installation, etc.
Better hurry before they're gone........

The issue is if you look at the reliability ratings. Company A does great for dishwasher, sucks for fridge and stove. Company B makes a damn good stove, but their other stuff isn't all that great.

I put a set of LG appliances in my house last year. I purchased most of them through Costco. Costco didn't have the counter depth version of the refrigerator I wanted, so I ended up ordering it through Amazon. It included delivery to my kitchen. I was pretty nervous about the whole deal, but it worked out perfectly... and I'm a picky SOB when it comes to dents and scratches.

I went with the "Studio" series. It was the first time I've ever spent "big bucks" on a dishwasher and OMG was it worth it. The thing is MUCH more quieter :-) than anything I've had in the past. Unless your dishwasher is poked off in a corner of your basement, I'd say it's entirely worthwhile to spend an extra $500 and get the really good one.

EDIT TO ADD: I'd really love to have all built-in appliances, but it'd require a complete remodel of my kitchen to make it work. I was really shocked to see how expensive the Subzero, Viking, True, Miehle type of appliances are. I think a person could easily spend $80k remodeling even a moderately sized kitchen like mine. The LG appliances were a compromise--buy basically the best I could find without jumping into the custom, built-in realm.

Bosch makes probably the best line of Dishwashers. Whirlpool Gold is what we went with in 2009. They had the features and ratings the wife wanted. She still really likes them and they get used a LOT.

Had the switch go out on the fridge compressor ($20 and common) and that is it.

LG seems to have consistently high ratings in a "suite" in the past few years.
