    Default Iphone 5s help

Background: My daughter dropped the wifes phone and caused the red screen, which killed the battery. We were on vacation and were not able to get to a proper repair shop. Got home went to a repair shop to pull photos and get phone running but they seemed clueless. Phone now only showed the itunes screen

I finally got some free time and replaced the battery, things seemed fine. Phone showed the itunes logo. Tried to restore/update and the phone won't do it keeps showing the itunes logo. Put the phone into DTF (?) mode and it still won't restore. When trying to restore in DTF mode I do get a red screen blink once but then when it resumes to normal it just shows the itunes screen and no redscreen.

Any of you know what could be the cause? Point me in the right direction or forum please.
My suspicion is that the digitizer is still broken (red screen during DTF mode) but not broken enough to show up as a fault. I can replace the digitizer for $35 of Amazon, but not sure if thst will fix it, and don't want to throw good money after a broken phone. (Of course there is some great photos on there that we can't get to... )

Personally, I would consider just biting the bullet and upgrading to, at a minimum, the next gen of iPhone, as the 5/5s series is probably unlikely to receive any future software updates. If you must stick with the 5s, they can be had on Amazon all day long for $100-$120 with prime shipping.

    Hurley,
The wife is sporting a new phone. Main goal is to try and get the pictures from our trip. Secondary goal is to reset it and see if I like the Iphone ecosystem or give it to one of the kids.

I’m guessing the cause was you daughter dropping the phone based off of your post. Do I win a prize?

Does your computer still recognize the phone? There are various apps that can scan the phone for free, and if the pics are recoverable you can buy the full version to get them from the phone to the computer. Here is one for a quick reference. Full disclosure: Never used it myself and this is from a quick google search.

I would use one of those apps and see if it can recover the files. If it can then you can pay for the upgraded version to pull the photos off the phone. It is a big plus that your computer can see it.
