Selling a bike with fresh registration, transferable/pro rated?

After 3 months finding a few things I'd like from a different bike and going to be getting a different. This question may be mute since I'll probably not find a buyer until spring. But I was wondering for a freshly registered bike, think I can transfer plates to new bike and just pay like a pro rate between them or anything? Both kawasaki so I suppose if an officer doesn't know what they look like I'd be fine, but facing the late fee or worse next year trying to update plates? Up till now I've been fortunate and 4 wheel vehicles sold were all like 2 months away from needing renewed anyways.

Not like $150 or whatever it was is a big deal, esp since I think a fair chunk of that is the physical plate itself I now have?

Maybe Fredrick is different than Arapahoe county but I had to show proof I had gotten rid of the vehicle before they will cancel registration and apply whatever credit you have to the new vehicle.

To date (30 yrs) when transferring from 1 mc to another there was never an issue. Told them i sold the old one and would like to use plates on the one i am registering today. Plates are pro rated. That will be $$xx have a good day ....

Not sure what you're asking but yes, you can transfer the plates to another vehicle and if there is some time left on the old registration that credit will be applied to the new plates. I've done it many times on cars, motorcycles, trailers, etc. You have to bring the old registration in when you do it so they can look it up on the system to know how many months of registration are remaining on the old one.

it's not pro-rated like you would think though. (1/12 per month)

it's all front loaded, so like 50% is the first month and then down from that.

I had a $1000 plate (semi truck), had 6 months on it, I got less than $200 in credit

it's almost useless
you get more credit for the actual plate
