Default Any suggestions/recommendations for 10/22 Picatinny rail?

I am looking to modify a base-model Ruger 10/22 for us as a kid's rifle.
Red dot for plinking and close range, one piece scope and mount for further out.
Nothing too precision, unlike Hoser and TimK.

Who makes a good Picatinny rail for the 10/22 receiver.
I have seen pictures of the Midwest Industries and the Larue rails.
A little cantilever over the barrel is fine, but not too short.

    What are your recommendations?
    Thanks.

I put a cheap eBay rail on my kids rifle ($8 free shipping). It’s solid enough for red dot and scope, and I can upgrade down the road. I won’t cry if I toss an $8 part to upgrade to something’s my better.

A cheap pic rail drilled for the ruger mounting will be fine for the 50 yard max I bet you will be shooting. 100 yard .22 is fun but humbling especially with a semi auto.
You sir, are a specialist in the art of discovering a welcoming outcome of a particular situation....not a mechanic.

My feedback add 11-12 ish before the great servpocaylpse of 2012
